Playing with scale

We're playing with large scale items today.

Many times you'd think that large scale furniture or art would eat up a room; but actually the opposite happens.  Large scale pieces can make a room seem cozier, create an anchor or focal point for the room, and add tons of storage.

Here are a few favorites.

{1}  Great storage pieces in this multipurpose space.

{2}  Love this super huge headboard made from salvaged architectural elements.  You could do a similar look with an over-sized mantle as well.

{3}  A lovely large mirror propped on a wall reflects so much light in this space.

{4}  We love using big art in The Design House.  It draws the eye and makes a statement in any room.

{5}  This large cabinet in a narrow bathroom adds tons of storage and doesn't look at all out of place.

What are some of your favorite over-sized pieces to use while decorating?

Happy Monday Everyone!

  2. I have a huge old window on the main wall in my living room, takes up nearly the full wall that separates my living room from the kitchen, it's my favorite thing in the house because it reflects my gusto to follow my junkin' heart and enjoy my own style. Thanks for the inspiration!
