Sunburst mirrors can be dated back to France in the late 1600's.   They were widely popular in the US in the mid-20th century, and now they've become increasingly popular again over the last few years.

Vintage pins and brooches are beautiful.  The colors, the styles, the variety, it's all so exciting to me.

Here are some neat ways to reuse a favorite piece, or some crafty ideas if you score a bunch of these beauties at a reasonable price.

It's a sign!

Thanks to everyone who checked out Shop Lucketts last night.  We are excited to announce that we had our first purchase last night --- it was a sign, literally!

Carolyn B. from Washington, DC purchased our "Work with Me People" box sign {thanks Carolyn!}.  This is one of our favorites and tells it like it is {in a nicer and prettier sort of way}.

These box signs are great gifts and the colors really can't go wrong in any decor or style.

Be sure to check the product measurements too.  We hung the signs on the barn to take some pics and that baby is big, so objects really are larger than they appear  : )

It's been years in the making and sooo difficult to work on this blog the last few months while keeping mum about the biggest project we've had going on behind the scenes.

Mayhem 2012

We're still celebrating our dear friend Henry who turned 60 last month.

On Friday, May 4th, we're having our Mayhem celebration {Henry's last name is May if you didn't know}.

Starting at 6:30pm, we'll be tailgating in the parking lot with great food, great drinks, and great company!

Henry's favorite Bluegrass band will be here from 6pm 'til 9:30.  And yes,we'll keep The Design House and store open until 8pm too.

Store to Abode Fridays #9 - urns

For Store to Abode Fridays, we like to take one item from the store as inspiration and show you how to decorate with it. 

Today we're having fun with garden urns!

Here are some of our favorite and unique ideas for decorating with garden urns.

Spring visitor

A new visitor made a home in Heather's pavilion this past week.

We're calling her "Lazy Dove" because she decided to nest in a long ago abandoned bird nest in the corner.

She's so much bigger than the nest's previous occupant and hangs off the side of the nest --- she doesn't seem to mind one bit though.

Ann's vintage fashions

Ann is our resident vintage fashion expert.  Her space at The Old Lucketts Store is on the third floor and is a treasure trove of vintage clothing and accessories that she switches out with the season.

April Design House - sneak peek part 2

Our April Design House is only four days away!  The event begins Friday, April 6th through Sunday, April 8th --- 10am to 5pm each day.


As always, expect fun decorating and painting ideas, lots of fun new furniture, accessories and spring scarves!

Here are a few of the surprises we have in store for Spring!

Everything's just peachy

Expect lots of bunnies and two new colors in the Design House for April.

To get in the springtime mood, I created a new drink that's a fun way to welcome spring.  Enjoy!

1. Fill glass with ice
2. Add 1oz peach vodka schnapps
3. Add 2oz of citrus vodka
4. Fill rest of glass with lemonade
5. Garish with slices of peaches and/or lemons

If you want to make a pitcher for a party then multiply recipe based on amount of guests.

Marian on Nate Berkus April 2nd!

A big congratulations to Marian Parsons, Miss Mustard Seed, who will be on The Nate Berkus Show Monday, April 2nd.

Marian will be sharing some of her favorite DIY projects around her house and will make a vintage-looking sign with Nate.
