Kathy has been bringing her finds in to our farmhouse throughout September, primping and preening, getting ready for the October 4-5&6 Design House.
We've all been wondering what Kathy is going to whip up. She's decided on a style she calls mix 'n chic in a girly office. Kathy found a fabulous
Chinoiserie buffet with mirrored panels and faux bamboo and a pair of great bookcases. There will be glossy black and white, which some yellow and orange accents, oversized houndstooth pattern sprinkled around, upholstered pieces, and of course tons of layered accessories.
We can't wait!
Kathy has been shopping, selling, and staging vintage finds for more years than she cares to admit. She's had her own storefront, shared shop space with other vintage vendors, and participated in vintage markets.
Kathy describes her look as eclectic. She buys what she likes whether it's vintage or new, traditional or modern, the mix always works. Kathy has her home is her canvas where creates her design experiments. Kathy's blog, All About Vignettes, is where she shares the results of her decor experiments, vintage finds, and shop/vintage market events.
Kathy's sun room is a mix of Chinoiserie, Mid Century Modern, and Craigslist finds and got her featured on The Nate Berkus Show. On the show, Kathy shared with Nate's viewers how she pulled together the room inexpensively with a high end result.
Recently, Kathy's home was featured on Houzz as a Home Tour. Kathy said "I think it showed how much fun I have mixing vintage finds with new decor. And of course many of those fabulous vintage treasures have come from my favorite shopping resource, Lucketts Store."
Here's what the intro to the Houzz article said:
"Artfully layered accessories and patterns plus an eclectic furniture mix make for intriguing decor with vintage flair.
Homeowner Kathleen Wall calls her style vintage with a twist. But what does she twist? Try Corinthian columns, faux snakeskin and layer upon layer of patterns and accessories. Her design experiments — as the retired teacher, interior design dabbler and blogger behind All About Vignettes calls them — take place in her family's 1970s Maryland home.
Wall has used her style over the past two decades to transform an exterior once marked with minimal landscaping and a dated interior into a home that’s full of unique design. "My goal is to inspire you to think out of the box and break some design rules along the way," she says. "
Kathy has done such a beautiful job, we can't wait to see how everything comes together for the October 4-5-6 Design House, a short walk across the parking lot at The Old Lucketts Store.
